Just ck it out and I think it will save a lot of people time, money and frustration.There are various kinds of software that you can install on your Mac, and it is quite easy to manage those apps on macOS. You ONLY need the soundcard on your main DAW. And the SERVERs do NOT need to have a sound card or a midi interface. Just so you understand: ONLY an Ethernet cable is required for ALL data transmission between HOST and SERVERS. Latency is minimal and clearly displayed by the HOST applet so, you can adjust your tracks if needed. I have been using my system with the UAD cards as well as TC Powercore and all is working perfectly.

(the ONLY limitation is that imposed by UA.which is my only gripe with the UAD system.) Don't throw away your old PC, thay can work well for this. If you need to use more than 4 UAD cards you can set them up on different machines, as available.

If you have more than one 'older' PC you can use ALL of them to run your VST sutff and free up power on your main DAW. The plugins setting are saved on your MAIN DAW (HOST) but, to control them you have to use a window which opens on the SERVER machine(s) were the plugins are installed so, a KVM is necessary, or at least a monitor and mouse for each computer. You got UAD on your NEW machine! No time wasted unistalling and reinstalling cards, drivers, software, etc. It's totally transparent to the user.Īnother cool thing is that if you are upgrading your PC for example, and you have your UAD PCI cards in the old machine, just leave them there and install the SERVER software on that machine and the HOST on your new PC (or Mac) and that's it. When you save your project/session all your plugin selection and setting will be saved as usual. (UAD 1176mLAN) - indicating it's running on the LAN and not locally. Some plugins will remain available in their respective folders but, will have the appendix LAN - for example. Most of the plugins available through the network will appear on your host machine in a folder named FX-Teleport. But, if you forget, no problem, it gives you chance to RESCAN and SELECT the SERVER of your choice or, run your vst stuff locally (which of course would mean that you have it installed there as well). This means you should launch the SERVER applet before you launch your MAIN DAW. Likewise, the HOST software will scan the NETWORK for all available SERVERS. When you install the server software it scans the system for all the installed VST plugs and will ask you for alternative paths for your VST folders, if you have any.
Very, very briefly, the way the software works is by installing a HOST applet (on your MAIN DAW) and a SERVER applets on your other PC(s). I thought I'd share my experience with everyone (I have already emailed UA privately on this and no, I am NOT connected to the makers of FX-Teleport nor do I get money from selling their products) Of course, it works GREAT with the UAD cards and plugz. That's a deceptively simple, little application which allows you to run VST plugins (including virtual instruments) on several PCs, connected ONLY through a simple Ethernet cable (a GigaBit network is recommended). Which brings most people, including me, to look to the Magma solution.īut, now there is a much better, cheaper and much simpler way of doing it with FX-Teleport.

f you are looking to upgrade your PC and/or to build your own DAW you have to look forever to find anything with more than 3 PCI slots. It seems that gone are the days when a 6 PCI mobo was pretty much standard. I know that many people (including myself) are finding the new generations of mobos lacking in the number of PCI/PCie slots. For any one who hasn't heard of FX-Teleport this could prove very useful info.
